In this summary, we chronicle two reports related to media and public awareness. Both reports are conducted by Media Tenor, founded by Roland Schatz who is an expert in media content analysis and referenced in the book The Revolt of the Public and Crisis of Authority in the New Millennium.
Global Agenda Index 2018: The index offers insights about the nature of media and politics by understanding how frequently and with what tones concepts, leaders, and countries are referenced in the international media.
In the face of global disorder, local and state Governments rise to drive an agenda when the Federal Government fails to respond, such as in the climate crisis. While most United States political indicators have a negative tone of media coverage, the U.S. economy had a significantly positive tone in 2017. Additionally, UK and EU countries had a higher media economic tone than in previous years.
CSR Index 2018: The Corporate Social Responsibility Index shows how corporations include corporate social responsibility in their annual reports as well as other indicators of media tone related to corporate social responsibility. The report provides a detailed analysis of the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and how the goals are being diffused in media.
